Meet the Hosts/Players

Nice to meet you!

Below you can learn a little bit about the hosts and players you hear on the Old World Podcast. For information about the Old World Podcast in general, be sure to check out our About page.

Lance

Husband, father of 3 and battling goblins on the weekends, Lance is a pretty busy guy. Lance has been gaming all his life, but he really didn’t dig into tabletop roleplaying games until he was an adult. He’s always been a huge fan of Warhammer (thanks to Steve) and he is super excited to be a part of the sensation that is Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay. Lance acts as one of the hosts in the discussion part of the Old World Podcast and is the primary GM for the actual play portion of the podcast as well.

Steve

My name is Steve Farris, I’ve been gaming for quite awhile now. If it has anything to do with strategy I’m down to play. Some of my favorite table top games include Warhammer Fantasy, Star Wars Armada and Star Wars Rebellion. I’ve just started to dabble in fantasy roleplay. What better game to start off with than WFRP!

Matt

Games have always been a big part of my life. Starting with HeroQuest back in 1993, gaming was one of the main things my family did together. In the early days, it was mostly the standard fare (Monopoly, Life, etc.) with a few standouts (The Omega Virus, 13 Dead End Drive). In 2006, I was introduced to Heroscape, which led to a lot of gaming with friends. It wasn’t until December of 2010 when I first played Dominion. This was really the beginning of my foray into modern board games. Dominion led to Pandemic, which led to Small World, which led to Ticket to Ride, and so on. Role-playing games didn’t enter the picture until late 2014 when I was asked to play a session of Star Wars: Edge of the Empire. Since then, I have played in and GM’d dozens of RPG sessions using the various FFG Star Wars systems. Along with my wife and two young daughters, I’m looking forward to my future in games and hope to GM a long term campaign for my family someday.

Janet

Hi there, my name is Janet and I wear many hats, except actual hats because they make my head look weird. As a wife and mother of two brilliant and devious children I work to pay for the necessities of life, ya know, Legos and games. By day I save people from medical bills and by night I woodburn nerdy things for our family Etsy shop. I love co-op games, especially when I can be on the same team as my AMAZING husband Matt. His love and passion for RPG’s has brought me yet another layer into this awesome world of gaming and I’m so delighted to be a part of this newest adventure.

Kyle

My name is Kyle VerHulst and I am your typical nerd. I have always played video games (RPGs like The Witcher 3 Wild Hunt and Red Dead Redemption 2 are my favorite) and a few board games but tabletop RPGs came a few years ago in 2015 thanks to Lance. He asked me to play a character in the Star Wars RPG and I jumped at the opportunity. RPGs are now my favorite genre of “board game”. My normal day is hanging out with my wife and pets and usually watching Star Wars or some other fantasy show. I hope to one day grow into a GM role to start RPG adventures of my own.

Jessica

Mommy extraordinaire over here!  Seriously, that’s most of my life.  I fit some work in where I can (because, you know… bills).  And some yoga.  Then more mommy-ing.  When my hubby decided to start a podcast, I filled in as a guest player.  We had so much fun that now you all you lucky ducks get to hear my voice on a regular basis.  Welcome to our corner of the RPG world.  I hope you enjoy listening as much as we enjoy playing!  Kapla… oh, wait 😉
